Citizens for Hopkins issued the following announcement on Dec. 23

Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph released the following schedule of events:

Quiet Time with God and Self Jan. 3-5

Come, be still and know your God! Sign up for a “Quiet Time with God and Self” weekend from Jan. 3-5. Let the peaceful and holy surroundings of Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center rejuvenate your soul through prayer and quiet time with God. To begin the New Year, take this time for YOU. Cost: $190 (includes room and meals) or $90 for commuters. Retreat begins with a social at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3 and ends after breakfast on Sunday, Jan. 5. Spiritual direction is available with Sister Mary Matthias Ward for those who wish it. Focus on Faith new book study begins Jan. 9

The Focus on Faith program, which meets monthly to study the Catholic faith, will be reading and discussing “The Complete Stories” by Flannery O’Connor in 2020. The first session will be on Jan. 9 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The sessions will be led by Sister Ann McGrew, OSU. The $20 fee per session includes lunch. The group meets at Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center (12 miles west of Owensboro on Hwy. 56). Future 2020 dates are on the second Thursday of each month (there is no session in July).

Eucharistic Adoration Jan. 12

The Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph invite the public to join them for Eucharistic Adoration on the second Sunday of each month from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., at the Motherhouse Chapel in Maple Mount (12 miles west of Owensboro on Hwy. 56). This adoration focuses on praying for vocations and concludes with evening prayer. Upcoming dates in 2020 are Jan. 12, Feb. 9 and March 8. The Ursuline Sisters also have Adoration that is open to the public on Fridays from 3 p.m.-5 p.m.

Welcoming the New Year with SoulCollage Jan. 25

“Vision 2020: Welcoming the New Year through the Eyes of SoulCollage” will take place on Saturday, Jan. 25 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center (12 miles west of Owensboro on Hwy. 56). This workshop is a fun, creative way to seek wisdom and understanding by creating a collage of symbols. Taking this time away to listen to the Holy Spirit is a wonderful way to discern where God is leading you in the coming year. The presenter is Stacy Green, a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant who is a certified SoulCollage facilitator. The $40 fee includes program materials and lunch. “Friends & Fun at the Mount” Jan. 29

Would you like to mingle with others and enjoy a luncheon at Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center? Now is your chance! Come out on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The Mount will provide plenty of space, snacks and lunch, and even door prizes. You or your group can bring your own games, knitting, books, deck of cards, etc. Or you can spend time relaxing and visiting the Mount Saint Joseph Gift Shop. The cost is $15 if you register in advance or $20 at the door. Married Couples Retreat Jan. 31-Feb. 2

“Growing in Love with One Another; Growing in Love with God” is a retreat for married couples that will take place from Jan. 31-Feb. 2. Long-time marriage educators Bridget Brennan and Jerry Shen will bring their gifts in teaching everyday practical skills to equip couples to grow in love and joy with each other and God. There is a discounted rate of $275 per couple If you sign up by Jan. 17. Otherwise the fee is $325 per couple. The fee includes meals and accommodations at the Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center (12 miles west of Owensboro on Hwy. 56). Take this time to get away and renew your marriage. 12 Keys to Spiritual Vitality begins Feb. 5

“The 12 Keys to Spiritual Vitality: Powerful Lessons in Living Agelessly” begins Feb. 5 at the Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center (12 miles west of Owensboro on Hwy. 56). This is a seven-session course with classes on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. beginning Feb. 5 and ending on March 18. Attendees will learn the 12 “keys” that transform aging from a potentially dismal time into an ageless soul-adventure. This program is based on the writing and research of Dr. Richard Johnson, founder of Senior Adult Ministry and nationally recognized for his pioneering work in Spiritual Gerontology and maturing adult faith formation. The presenter is Maryann Joyce, the new director of the Retreat Center, who has studied under Richard Johnson. The $90 fee includes an Educational Faith Assessment Profile by Richard Johnson plus all seven sessions. Or you can pay $10 per class plus $25 for the Faith Assessment. Confirmation Retreat Day March 7

Confirmation candidates will have a chance to explore their spiritual identity as children of God and look deeply into the life and mission of Jesus at this Confirmation retreat day on March 7. It will take place at Mount Saint Joseph Conference and Retreat Center (12 miles west of Owensboro on Hwy. 56). Participants will be encouraged to embrace Confirmation as an encounter with the Holy Spirit and be inspired to use the gifts of the Spirit in their role as disciples of Christ. The retreat will be led by Karen Muensterman, a Catholic writer, speaker and retreat leader with over 25 years of experience in teaching religion and exploring spirituality. She is Director of Faith Formation at Resurrection Catholic Church in Evansville, Ind. The $25 fee per student includes lunch. Parish groups of 20 or more receive a discount. The time will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Confirmation sponsors are welcome (lunch fee is $10). Please register by Feb. 7.
