CITIZENS FOR HOPKINS: Daviess County authorities investigate fatal collision along U.S. 431

Davies

Citizens For Hopkins issued the following announcement on Nov 18.

A three-vehicle collision that occurred 5:23 a.m. today at the intersection of U.S. 431 and Hill Bridge Road resulted in a fatality and three others injured.

Daviess County Sheriff’s Office reports the driver of a Nissan Altima was heading southbound along U.S. 431, when the driver of a Chevy Cruze pulled out of Hill Bridge Road into the path of the Nissan.

After the initial collision, the Nissan went through a guardrail and came to rest in a ditch off the west side of the road, DCSO indicated. The Chevy was sideways in the southbound lane, when the driver of a Hyundai Elantra traveling southbound did not see the Chevy Cruz due to darkness and struck it on the passenger side.

The driver of the chevy Cruz was taken via ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and later pronounced deceased. Two occupants in the Nissan and the driver of the Hyundai were taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The name of the deceased has not been released pending family notification. Others involved were listed as Joseph S. Howard, 46, Nicholas E. Moorman, 35 and James A. Forsythe, 32, all of Owensboro.

Owensboro Police, Utica Fire and Daviess County Fire departments along with AMR and Daviess County Coroner’s Office assisted.
