Details

Bring the family (both furry and otherwise) to Historic Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street) for a tail-wagging good time and learn how to keep our community safe and friendly for pets.

The City of Carrollton will host its fourth annual Paws on the Square: Play, Shop, Learn, Adopt event on Saturday, September 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. The FREE event brings people, pets, animal welfare organizations, and pet-friendly companies together.

Browse the pet-focused vendor booths where you’ll find everything from pet accessories to people food. Chow & Tabby will be selling fun fashion dog clothes and 78 Doggery will be selling fruit and spice-infused dog brew along with hand-sewn dog bandanas.

Pamper your pet at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. with a calming DOGA (dog yoga) session. Dog owners can experience a unique way of practicing non-traditional yoga with their pets while building a better bond with their animals.

Two caricature artists will also be available to capture a pet’s best pose. Visit the “paw-ty” photo area and have a friend memorialize the occasion with a photograph of dog and owner on the Carrollton Square.

Pet Love mobile pet groomers will provide either a free nail or face trim on a first-come, first-served basis until the end of the event. This service is intended as a small touch up and does not include baths, full haircuts, or anything that would replace an actual grooming appointment

On-site adoptions will be provided by Operation Kindness. Come out to meet your new best friend and add a canine kid to the family. Six lucky dogs found their forever homes through Operation Kindness’ mobile adoption program at this event in 2018.

Low cost $5 vaccinations will be provided by the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP) from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Attendees must be in line by 1 p.m. in order to be seen. The event will also include free City registration with proof of rabies vaccination for Carrollton residents. Pet registrations are not only helpful in reuniting lost pets with their owners, but are also required by City ordinances.

Stop by the City of Carrollton Animal Adoption Center booth to find out about Animal Services’ many programs. CAS will be accepting both monetary and material donations.

A DJ will be on site for the entire event, so owners can sit and enjoy the tunes while their dogs sniff out a personalized doggy snack-bag at the doggy goody-bag bar.

Be sure to check out Yappy Hour on El Rincon’s patio area – a laid back scene where canine friends can enjoy an H2O bar and puppi-tizers (dog treats for the four-leggeds), not to mention adult beverage specials for the paw-rents such as $5 margaritas. Look out for other food trucks at the event or visit one of Downtown Carrollton’s many delicious restaurants.

Paws on the Square will also feature the launch of the 2020 Carrollton Pet Photo Calendar, which will be available for purchase for $10. All proceeds benefit the animals at the Carrollton Animal Services & Adoption Center (2247 Sandy Lake Road).

All dogs must have ID tags, be on a leash at all times, have a current rabies vaccination (or are about to receive one), and be accompanied by someone 18 years or older. Attendees will receive a doggy trash bag dispenser in the shape of a fire hydrant while supplies last.

The event is sponsored by Aqua Zen Travel, Christ Church Carrollton, Dallas Chiropractic Metrics, Dallas Medical Center, HelloFresh SE, Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford Carrollton, and Texas Credit Union.
