City of Carrollton issued the following announcement on Sept 4.
Get in the spirit of All Hallows Eve in Carrollton with spooktacular events to satisfy both the bravest and the most timid trick-or-treater. ‘Tis the season for picking out pumpkins, watching scary movies, learning about ghosts, taking a Spooky Tour, and trick-or-treating for candy or a free book.
Perry Pumpkin Patch
Saturday, October 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The City of Carrollton will usher in some free fall fun with the annual Perry Pumpkin Patch at the A.W. Perry Homestead Museum (1509 N. Perry Road) with games, competition, and of course pumpkins. Feel free to wear a costume. Everyone is invited.
Folks can enjoy some old-fashioned games, photo opportunities, and even pick out their very own pumpkin. Pumpkins are available for those who donate canned or boxed goods. Limit one per person. Compete in the pie-baking contest for a chance to take home the trophy. Not a baker, but love pie? Compete in the pie-eating contest. Special Needs Halloween Dance
Friday, October 11, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Dress up as your favorite character, ghost, or ghoul while dancing the night away at the Crosby Recreation Center (1610 E. Crosby Road). The dance is for adults ages 18 years and older. There will be a DJ, games, door prizes, and costume contests. Friends, family, and caregivers are all invited. All participants must preregister by October 8 at cityofcarrollton.com/signupnow. The cost is $13 for residents and $14.50 for non-residents. Snacks will be available.
Mother/Son Monster Mash
Saturday, October 19, 6-9 p.m.
Moms can enjoy a HOWLING good time with their sons at Creekview High School (3201 Old Denton Road). Come out for a kid-friendly haunted house, a bounce house, dancing, games, snacks, door prizes, and more. Come as you aren’t and wear your favorite costume. Take a photo with your little ghoul(s). Photos will be available for purchase. No dads or daughters; this is an event for mothers and their sons. Spooky Tours at the Perry
Thursday-Saturday, October 24-26, 5-7 p.m.
Looking for even more mystery and excitement? Take a free tour of the Victorian A.W. Perry Homestead Museum, decorated for Halloween, and listen to staff share stories of times past. Mysteries will be unraveled, secrets revealed, and tales of the supernatural explored. Costumes are encouraged, but not required.
Library Fall Festival
Friday, October 25, 6-8 p.m.
Drop in for some free, fall family-friendly fun at Josey Ranch Lake Library (1700 Keller Springs Road). Enjoy games, art activities, scary stories, a cupcake walk, face painting, prizes, and more. Costumes are encouraged, and remember to bring a bag for collecting treats.
Ghost Town (If You Dare!)
Saturday, October 26, 5 p.m.
Ghost hunt on the Square and celebrate Halloween in Historic Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street). Grab some candy, make a craft, and even participate in a free mini-pumpkin giveaway. Most importantly, wear your best costume for a chance to win a costume contest. Contest will take place at 6:30 p.m. Stick around for a showing of the classic Halloweentown (1998), TV-G at sunset. Thirteen year old Marnie Piper learns she is a witch on her birthday and follows her Aunt Aggie into a world of ghosts, ghouls, witches, and werewolves, where battling wicked warlocks are trying to take over the town. Books for Treats
Thursday, October 31, 12-9 p.m.
