Mining officials have identified the miner found unresponsive at an underground coal company near Madisonville.
Jeremy Elder, 39 of Providence, was pinned beneath a scoop at Cardinal Mine, Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet Director of Communications John A. Mura said this evening.
"The accident is under investigation by the Division of Mine Safety personnel, who were onsite today," Mura said.

HOPKINS COUNTY Ky. (9/5/19) — Mining officials are investigating the death of an underground coal miner in Hopkins County.
The worker was found in the vicinity of a coal-loading machine at Cardinal Mine, which is operated by Warrior Coal, a subsidiary of Alliance Resource Partners. The underground mine is located near Madisonville.
Warrior Coal workers indicated the miner was taken to the surface, but co-workers were unable to revive the individual, who died this evening of unknown causes.
